No, you do not have to but most people choose to. After freshmen year many people move into homes or apartments around campus but plenty choose to live in dorms again. Some people who live close enough even commute.

∙ 13y agoIf you've just graduated from high school and you aren't planning on living with your parents or other guardians then the answer is yes you do have to live on campus your freshman year. The following quote comes directly from OSU's Freshman Admissions webpage.
"Columbus campus freshmen who are single, full-time students and have not had at least a one-year educational break since high school are required to live on campus, unless they plan to live with parents or guardians or are otherwise exempted."

∙ 15y agoWell, you can live in an apartment. But it costs way more! It's best to live in your own apartment because you can have your own space. Freshmen are not required to live on campus.
