Maybe. Most fish lay eggs, but there are some species of Freshwater Fish that "lay" their eggs inside their own bodies, then later "squirt" out the hatched tiny baby fish that grew from the eggs.

If you allow a pair of Angelfish (Pterophylum scalare) to rear their young, then they will not spawn again until a few weeks after the young are all independent or removed from their aquarium. If on the other hand, you remove their fertilised ova, then depending on their condition and circumstances they could well spawn again in as little as 10 to 14 days.
