Generally, goths do not attempt to contact the dead any more that a non-goth would. Anyone may attempt to contact the dead, goth or not, and it is fair to say that some goths do, though not all of them. (However, whether or not you believe contacting the dead is real remains to be decided by yourself. Just because someone says they can, does not mean this is true.)
