GCC's are generally quite nippy birds but you can get ones that aren't. It depends on their personality. I have one that is nippy sometimes but usually he is fine.
you can nip that in the bud
To nip something in the bud means to stop it before it starts. A bud is the new growth of a plant - that little rounded green ball on the end of a stem. To nip means to pinch something off. So if you pinch off the little green shoot, the branch won't grow - you have nipped it off in the bud.

The term "nip" typically refers to the distance between two rolls in a mill, often in the context of a rolling mill. The number of mills in a nip can vary depending on the specific setup and design of the mill. Generally, a nip involves two rolls, but in some contexts, multiple nips may be involved in a series of mills. Therefore, the number of mills in a nip can vary, but it commonly refers to a pair of rolls working together.
It's a plant bud you're nipping - you nip or cut it off to stop the plant from growing in that area.
