Children trick-or-treat more than adults. Most towns won't even let people in high school (or older) trick-or-treat.
kids have more 55%
The real question is when was trick taken out. The word trick of trick or treat has always been there but when people got more used to handing out candy and everyone got a piece then people forgot to say trick and kids would be unprepared for the few that did. Really now people should say Treat!

For the "trick" part of Trick or Treat, people used to do things like use a bar of soap to mark up windows. Doing more than that these days would be considered to be vandalism and unacceptable. Since most people give candy, fruit, or charitable donations when asked for a treat, there really is no acceptable reason to trick these days.
Trick or treating did not come from a tradition. It was made as a way to make Halloween more fun. It has no connection to the old holiday Samhain or any other Halloween tradition.
Halloween has been a big night for kids to trick or treat for many years, so in that respect, it is not necessarily growing. In recent years, more people have decorated their homes with lights and Halloween decorations, so that seems to be growing in popularity.
I would say it's more for kids. As a 12 year old, I thought it was an easy movie to follow and understand. Some grown ups would too, if they enjoy comedy. I think this is a GREAT family movie but that's just my opinion.
It probably has something to do with the laws or peoples religious veiws. You can probably search more info on google

Halloween is not really celebrated in New Zealand, it is more of an American cultural theme. Though in saying such some kids who have grown up on a diet of American Television do try sometimes to "Trick or Treat". It is mostly frowned upon though.
