The first thing to note is that a guinea pig must not be lonely. This is why it is ideal to have at least two guinea pigs, since owning one guinea pig is difficult as he/she requires constant attention.
Another thing to consider is that the guinea pig must have a considerable amount of exercise. If the guinea pig remain in a clustered area without room for playing/running/exercising, he/she will suffer many physical illnesses.
Also, ensure that the guinea pig is taking all the necessary nutrients each day.
In short: If you plan to leave your guinea pig in a cage because you are gone for a couple of days, ensure that they have: plenty of room to play and exercise; more than enough food and water; and are not lonely.
i have two guinea pigs and are awesome! we have them litter trained! anyways they would love to have roommates. just remember that there will be a leader that may snap at the others once in a while.....
Guineapigs are herd animals so will always be happier with another piggie friend.
Though your guinea pig will be happier with a cage mate of the same gender, it will be perfectly happy without one as long as you spend lots of extra time with it and give it attention each day.
Two male guinea pigs will probably not get depressed because if you have 2 male guinea pigs, they will usually not get along.
yes it can if the guinea pig gets lots of attention when you are home
Yes most of them do. It depends on the situation. If the other Guinea pig is a tacking another then the best thing to do is to separate them.
well they dont get depressed but they would like it WAY better if it had a brother if it was a boy or a sister if it was a girl
yes, they are happier with companions.
guinea pigs squeak when your holding them and there are no other guinea pigs in the house because they get lonely and even a bit scared so they squeak trying to get comfort or even just to talk.
Yes. But It's best to know that they will most likely not get along at first. To fix that you will have to keep them in the same cage for about 2 weeks (It will give them time to show who is dominant). But otherwise, yes, guinea pigs do get lonely and should always have a friend. WARNING: NEVER GET YOUR GUINEA PIG A FRIEND AND THEN GIVE IT AWAY, THE GUINEA PIG WILL GET LONELY AND START BEING DEPRESSED AND MAY STOP EATING.
Well, most likely, if there is more than one in a cage, they are happy, because they like having friends. But if if there is just one, it is sad, because it is lonely. Remember: Guinea Pigs are sociable animals. They like having more than one in a cage. They can get very lonely by themselves.
Peruvians cook guinea pigs. Guinea pigs are native there and they are called Cuy.
Male Guinea Pigs are called Boars, female Guinea Pigs are called Sows, and babby Guinea Pigs are called Pups. A group of Guinea Pigs is called a Herd. :)
Yes your guinea pig can get lonely by it's self
yes if you are lonely
Because if they do not have one, they'll get lonely.

It is great to have two guinea pigs!!! They are extremely social animals. If they are alone for too long, they can become depressed and lonely.
I would it will get very lonely and might get sick, my breeder told me. I have guinea pigs.
You can try telling your parents that 2 guinea pigs will keep each other company and that one alone will be lonely.
Sometimes when you buy a guinea pig and you can't spend much time with it they can get lonely, so if you can't spend much time with your guinea pig, then it would be a good idea to buy another guinea pig friend. But be careful, sometimes guinea pigs don't like each other and will fight, and if this happens and one of your guinea pigs is not strong enough to fight for itself it could get killed. Be careful! Message me if you have any more guinea pig or rabbit questions!! :D Jillian!
You should go to a rescue! They will have some for cheaper then that and you need 2 guinea pigs not one or the one will get lonely.
maybe because he/she is lonely or it's sick
Yes! It is alright to cage them seperatly but guinea pigs love company and may get lonely. 3 is the best number of guinea pigs to keep in one large cage so that way if one cage mate dies, the others will not miss it so terribly as if it were the only one.
