I've read that when you first get your hamster you should leave them in the cage for a day or two and just talk to them quietly so they get used to your voice. Also let them get used to your hand and being handled by you. what you can do is feed them a fruit stick or bits of apples and just have your hand in the cage for a bit. when they are used to you they will crawl on your hand and cling to you when it is in the cage. i don't know how long it usually takes for a hamster to get used to the owner but i suppose if you'll just know when they are if you do the above.

∙ 10y agoSometimes the hamster does if its always with it's mum but if it's not they might forget because hamsters have very short memory.
For it to recognise you, put your hand in the cage when it is stressed. Thishelps recognition greatly!
