well in the summer i make a run that i put my guinea pigs in and they exercise for about 5 hours each day at the weekends. But when i'm working they are in their run for about 1-2 hours when i get home. I hope this helps.

Definitely. Just like you need exercise, your hamster needs it too. You could put it in a hamster ball and watch it run around your house, or you could just put in a running wheel in its cage.
