Hermit crabs enjoy exercising on plastic wheels like the ones given to rodents! Also, they love to climb, so providing lots of safe wood, plastic aquarium decorations, or plants gives them places up high to explore. A good hermit crab toy can be plastic plants, the shells you provide them to wear, or a "moss pit" which is basically a moist moss play area for them. Hermit Crabs love to dig so make sure the substrate (ground) inside the tank is sand or coconut fiber (not gravel or tiny rocks because that can retain water and hurt the crab when they try to dig under a rock/toy) Be sure all toys are clean and safe (boil them in water and let them air dry)
Live rock and plenty of climbing and hiding places will give them all that they require.
Yes, but only use organic, no salt added kind. The only ingredient should be peanuts.
no hermit crabs don't like jelly it is bad for their health and if you would put in their food they would not eat it and then the jelly would eventually grow mold.
Mold can grow ANYwhere there is moisture, especially anyplace warm.
No. Why would they? Hermit crabs eat all kinds of things. They like fruits, veggies, crackers, peanut butter to name a few. There's also commercial products available.
No! They can't eat human food, like twinkies, seasoned meat, and heavly salted foods (unless it's sea salt) They can eat all fruits and veggies(non acidic) , SEA salted nuts, lean (not fatty) meats, ect...
Yes, like shrimp they too are scavengers so their digestive system will handle it. Mine like peanut butter, grape jelly, corn syrup, cheez-it type crackers, popcorn, shrimp tails, butter, and carrots.

It is all up to you. I like hermit crabs better, though.
Hermit crabs like to be with others, like how other animals like to be. It always nice to have another partner. I had several hermit crabs and they lasted longer than ones with out any other hermit crab.
