They usually do scab over and fall off with Herpes Simplex, like the ones people get on the lips, or other places. Genital Herpes are in the genital regions. The blisters are inside as well as outside on the female's genitals, so it's harder for the blisters to dry up. While they are drying, the skin cracks open. Also, the blisters break out at nerve endings, it can be a very painful outbreak, for males as well as females. I know of a woman who didn't practice safe sex and she was in the Emergency room, screaming in pain.

Q: Do herpes bumps always open I've read that herpes sores open and then scab over and the scab falls off. Is this correct?
