This should get you a basic idea of what you may have to do, if you attended college. http://www.ws.edu/publicsafety/applicationinfo.asp , I would consider visiting a local police station, and perhaps asking about this, a few minutes wasted for this wouldnt hurt.

Would you prefer to deal with a college-educated police officer or with one who has no higher education?

Personally, I would prefer to deal with a college educated officer. He has been trained in his field for two years longer than the average academy graduate. However, there is a lot to be said for street experience as well.

What education do you have to have to become a police women?

You can become "a police woman" the same way you become a policeman. You need to go through the interviewing process along with the extensive background checks and then you enter the 20 week academy. However to even be eligible to enter the academy you must be a minimum of 21 years old. After your 20 weeks in the academy that will then judge whether or not you are eligible to become a police officer. In the academy you will get a certain amount of hours in the classroom but also you will get experience out in the field with a FTO or Field Training Officer. The Field Training Officer is just basically an officer who has been with the department for years and has experience. Hope that answers your question!

Do you have to go to college to become a police officer?

Actually many police stations require only that you receive your High School Diploma, and prefer an Associates degree (2 years of college). Some states also require police academy training, but the extensiveness of your education does not have to be very much in order to become a police officer. I would assume that animal cops have to receive extra training, to learn how to deal with certain situations without harming the animals.

What school you have to take in order to be a police?

Do you feel that four year college degree should be requrement for all police offices?

I myself am going to be a Pennsylvania state trooper. i feel that college is not needed for the police academy.. i have take Criminal Justice classes and everything- and the information given is not 100% needed, its just about the system as a whole and the starting/ amendments of the system. its nice to have 2 years of college though, just to see the other majors oppertunities to decide if the career is right for you. my advice-- go to college for 60 credits (AKA 2 years) see if you like it.. but majoring in Criminal Justice is not needed-- I talked to some policemen and they all told me to go to college for my back-up plan... or major in physchology or sociology... but a 4yr degree isn't needed for police officers... you learn everything at the academy for the job.
