I have searched the internet and cannot find one. A company named Western Industries, Inc. has a patent pending on one, but I cannot learn when they might be available for purchase. It also looks like more of a commercial equipment company and this cooktop is priced around $3,000. They will accept $100 to (hold?) order one.

Best Downdraft Cooktops?

Without the interference of smoke or food scents soaking your clothes, cooking is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, smoke and other scents from cooking can create a less desirable ambiance when trying to enjoy a home cooked meal. This is where downdraft cooktops come in handy. When shopping for the best downdraft cooktop, keep in mind these points before making a decision.Basic elementsThe first thing you want to do, is figure out the size of cooktop that can fit in your kitchen. Next, check if the energy supply in your house is gas or electric because there are downdraft cooktops that are electric or gas specific. Then, decide how many burners you need. Some smaller downdraft cooktop units only have two to three burners installed. Bigger units have up to six burners. Also, consider the blower; typically, these units have three speed options for blowers.Unit designDowndraft cooktops were once only available in black and silver colors. Now, there are a wide range of designs from marble to futuristic. Also, there are two types of blower designs. The most common is the standard grill design that is placed between two burners. The other is a mesh design that rises from the back of the unit.Unit priceThe price for a downdraft cooktop ranges from $600 to $1500. Compare prices between brands that have nearly the same features to get the most out of your money.Reviews and consumer opinionsResearch reviews and consumer opinions about the brand you are considering. The last thing you want is to shell out almost $1000 for a downdraft cooktop, and the appliance malfunctions before the one year mark. There are a couple of great resources for conducting research. First, a knowledgeable sales person can give you the pros and cons for each unit and possibly a demonstration. Second, there are websites that display a side by side comparison of downdraft cooktops. Cooking is fun with the right cooktop. If smoke or other food scents interfere with creating a home cooked meal, then a downdraft cooktop is for you. When you are conducting your research, keep in mind these points: basic elements, unit design, price and consumer opinions.

Can you convert a downdraft to an updraft?

You must change the direction of the air flow, This is done by converting the downward pressure upward. You either need to use a forced air fan to change direction of the downdraft or to divert the air that normally flows downward into an upward motion by causing the downward air to be diverted into upward air chambers forcing the air upward. WindKat cowls has come up with a pretty good idea for solving this problem with chimneys. They say it is the most anti-downdraft cowl on the market. You can find them on the Web.

What makes a tornado hit the ground?

There has to be circulation inside of a storm which if there is a tornado then it has that circulation. What makes it touchdown is when you have a strong updraft and downdraft which pushes that horizontal rotation into a vertical position which causes the funnel cloud to come in contact with the ground causing a tornado.

Where does the force from a tornado come from for kids?

The force of a tornado comes form a turning, rising mass of air in a thunderstorm called a mesocyclone. Sometimes a downward-moving wind called a downdraft can wrap around the mesocyclone and make it narrower, which causes it to spin faster.

How do tornadoes come to the ground?

Most tornadoes originate within a rotating mass of air in a thunderstorm called a mesocyclone. Under the right conditions, a downdraft can wrap around the mesocyclone, causing the circulation to tighten and intensify, while at the same time stretching toward the ground.
