I obtained my male golden retriever when he was 13 months old. He was a surrendered pup from a family that found him too much work. Lucky for me they decided to do so. He came to me with a full coat. I belong to a golden retriever dog forum and the breeder was surprised to see his full coat. So, I believe it depends on the individual dog. My dog, Farley, has an awesome coat. I have no idea about his breeding but he obviously has great parents. I was surprised to find that he doesn't take a whole lot of grooming either. A good brushing once a week seems to be enough. His tail and leg feathers are lush and full and he will be going to the groomer soon to get trimmed up a bit for the summer. Can't wait to see him swimming.
Black labs are notorious for becoming "salt and pepper" in their old age. They will begin to grow little white hairs around their paws, tails, faces, chests, etc. It is also more common to grow white hairs if they had bolo paws when they were puppies, or have the AKC undesirable white spot on their chest.
My chocolate lab had bolo markings when she was little, she will probably get white hairs when she is old.
Yes. Normally their coat will change to the color of their ear as a puppy.
if they are golden lab pups there fur will be a lighter colour then it will grow darker.
They can it Just depends.
Same reason humans' hair changes color when they get older.
Yes, a ladybird or ladybug does change color as it gets older. This beetle can change from brown to yellow to orange or red during its lifetime.
yes. as wild desert tortoises get older the color of its shell gets lighter color if dark when young.
Yes, as older your hair color changes.
No, the calico cat's coat color is determined at birth.
A lab can not change color like from yellow to chocolate. However an older lab could change from yellow to white or the color of his fur gets lighter just like as people get old their hair starts to turn gray. This is because everyone's hair is naturally gray, pigments just color it. When pigments stop working or run out your (or your dog's) hair gets lighter in color. But only peoples turns gray.
All puppies are born blind with foggy blue eyes, the eyes change when they get older.
They can, especially when they get older.
white.......... the young ones are black or brown.....
It's probably just because he's getting older, and change of the fur color is normal for older dogs because their fur changes color. Hope this answered your question.
Yorkshire Terriers are born black and tan. (think of the coloring of a rottweiler) They change to their adult coloring ( blue body and tan head and legs ) as they get older.
As they get older the tend to get more dark gray to a black with some silver spots. The red on their bellies changes to white though if they are not in light for awhile
