Lions actually do not eat Cheetahs. But, they kill them to cut out on competition. Lions and Cheetahs share the same forests and hunt the same prey. Lions being the larger predator, takes advantage of the size and kills any cheetah that it can find to cut out on the competition. Cheetah with its superior speed escapes most of the time, but sometimes they get killed too
