Generally speaking, no. Up until very recently, monkeys were held to be herbivores, and the majority of them are still believed to be so. A wildlife documentary by the English naturalist David Attenborough in 2006, revealed that some colonies of chimpanzees living in jungle areas can be predatory, and kill smaller monkeys for food- however, it is not known how typical this is of chimp or ape behaviour. The general understanding remains that monkeys are herbivores, and seldom eat meat. Even if the Attenborough documentary revealed a carnivorous trait hitherto unknown amongst chimps, there is no way that any apes would take on an animal so much larger and faster than themselves, such as a giraffe.
