Most birds do (such as finches, carndals chickadees, nuthatches, and woodpecker.) How ever some spieces like to feed in the ground. (Such as Dark-eyed -juncos are the most visted bird to feeders. Also jays and doves feed on the ground.) Be sure to springle seeds on the ground, too.

It depends on the bird. For some it might be hard to feed because on most bird feed models, the opening is so low, or not wide enough, or the seeds are hard to reach. Because birds are so small and their necks are so little, all the stretching might be a feat for them. Although, for some birds, getting the seeds area piece of cake. Do not doubt me. I did a project on the anatomy and mind of birds and got an A+. You may not know me, and I don't know you, but trust me.

How do you squirrels out of bird feeders?

A problem for many back yard bird feeders. Most people use thin sheet metal around the post the feeder is attached to so the squirrel has no way to grip the post and climb up. If the feeder is hanging then a wide metal "cap" over it will not bother the birds but will stop the squirrel from jumping onto the feeder from above.

What are some tips and tricks I can use to control the birds that are destroying my apples?

Some people will purchase commercial items such as netting and fake owls to help. There are several home methods you can try that may help. These include cutting both ends off of a tin can and hanging several in the trees and the wind whistling through them and the shinyness may help deter birds. Other tricks include hanging old CD's from the tree or wrapping tin foil around branches (or making foil "bow ties"). It is also helpful to keep bird feeders and bird baths away from your fruit trees.

What kind of birds use a birdfeeder?

This depends on what kind of birdfeeder you have and what you put in it. Seed-eating birds will come to a birdfeeder with...well, seed, obviously. These will vary depending on the kind of seed, and will include sparrows, finches, goldfinches, doves, nuthatches, and chickadees. Suet feeders will attract a variety - most of the birds mentioned will eat from them, and so will woodpeckers, sapsuckers, and bushtits. Peanut and other nut feeders will attract crows, ravens, and jays. Fruit will attract finches, robins and other thrushes, bluebirds, and waxwings. Sugar water will attract hummingbirds and orioles, and the occasional woodpecker or finch. And then there are the more omnivorous birds (such as the invasive European Starling) which will chow down pretty much anything you put out.

What sort of bird feeder do you use for robins?

Robins rarely come to feeders. But there is a bluebird feeder on the market that holds mealworms for bluebirds. That might work, since both birds are thrushes and have a similar diet.

Northern cardinal what type of habitat does it use?

Cardinals are birds of forest edges, and suburban lawns. Rarely found in deep woods, they are among the first birds to come to bird feeders, where they love sunflower and safflower seeds.

How do you get rid of large numbers of nuisance starlings while still keeping song birds?

Solutions for getting rid of Starlings by providing a variety of feeders that they cannot feed from, but other birds can utilize: 1. Use a nyjer or thistle tube feeder, which is a specially designed feeder with tiny feeding ports for this very small seed. Starlings prefer other seed and find tube feeders difficult to manage easily. This type of feeder, depending on where you live, will attract small birds such as American Goldfinch, House Finch, and Chickadee. 2. Use tube feeders designed to hold mixed seed such as sunflower seed, shelled peanut or white millet etc. If you find the Starlings are still able to use the perches to access the seed, cut the perches a little shorter until they are unable to sit on them. This will not hinder the smaller birds. 3. Use peanut in the shell feeders which have bars or mesh with large holes to hold the food. Starlings find it very difficult to use this style. 4. Use an upside-down suet feeder that will attract clinging birds such as Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and Chickadees, but not Starlings who are unable to hold on. 5. Use safflower only in a hopper type bird feeder as Starlings are not usually attracted to this seed, but Cardinals are attracted by it. For more info visit the-scoop-on-wild-birds-and-feeders.com
