Muslims pray daily and not only on Fridays. However, particularly on Fridays, they are called for a special gathering prayer at noon in the mosque, called Jumaa prayer, or Gathering prayer. During this mosque gathering, Muslims listen to a religious sermon from the mosque leader (called Imam in Arabic) followed by a special Friday noon prayer. Friday in Arabic means "Gathering or Jumaa day".

Friday is considered as a weekly feast for Muslims when they dress better and nicer and pay visits, as available, to relatives and friends and enjoy good time within the family members.

It is not forbidden for Muslims on Friday to work or to do any allowed normal day activities. Muslims do not believe in the other religions belief that the weekly holiday is the day when God took rest after six day of the universe creation.

Answer

No..at all .

It is allowed for Muslims to work on Saturdays. They are allowed to work on all days of the week including Fridays (their weekly religious holiday) except during the Friday noon praying time of each Friday when they should gather in mosques for listening to sermons and praying.

Muslims don't believe that God took rest on Saturday after the universe creation, as claimed by some non Muslims, and accordingly mankind should take rest on these Saturdays.

Jazak Allah. It may be added that preferably the Muslims should stop working on Friday before noon to get sufficient for the preparation of Friday (Juma) prayer. They should take bath and put on neat and clean clothes and apply perfume. They may go on job after the Juma Prayer.

Muslims pray every day. The Jumu'ah prayer is a special prayer held on Fridays, as commanded by God in the Quran:

O you who believe! when the call is made for prayer on Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of God and leave off business; that is better for you, if you know. (Qur'an 62:9)

Friday is not a REST day for the Muslims. It is the day on which special Jumma prayer is offered by the Muslims. The Muslims may work in the morning till 11 a.m. and then make preparations for the Jumma prayer. They preferably take bath, put on neat and clean clothes and go to the mosque. After offering prayer (between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) they may resume their daily routine work.

Friday is not a rest day for Muslims; it is a day of prayer. This distinction is important since the Jewish and Christian Sabbaths come from the concept that God wanted to rest and, therefore, Jews and Christians rest and pray on those days. In Islam, there is praying, but no resting.

The reason for the day of prayer being on Friday is that in Arab society it was the Yawm al-Jom3a, or the Day of Gathering, when people were already congregated in the marketplace, making it a perfect time to organize a prayer group.

Yes,

Per Islam teachings, Muslims are allowed to work, in office or at home, on Saturdays as well as Fridays. However, in many Muslim countries, Friday (and mostly Saturday as well) is the weekly holiday. Muslims are allowed on holidays to work, go shopping, do family visits, ... and other normal days activities.
