An element is defined as a part of something. Such as the elements of Geometry; the elements of Music, etc.

Most commonly one will be referring to the chemical elements, where the properties of the material are (mainly) dictated by the electronic configuration of the outermost electron shell.

But forces such as electricity, gravity, and magnetism do not have these chemical elements - they are made of more fundamental stuff.

In general all physical objects are comprised of elements which are combined into molecules and then larger assemblies such as chemicals.
