Baptists, at least Southern Baptists, do not believe in soul sleep. When Jesus spoke to the thief on the cross He told him that he would be with Him TODAY, not some distant time in the future. Baptists understand the use of the word "sleep" in the New Testament as a euphemism for death. When Paul was contemplating what became of one at death, he wrote that to be absent from the body (dead) was to be with Christ. There is no intermediate step between death and being with Christ.

There a cult one sign of a cult is where they believe in soul sleeping personally what would be the point of salvation if all you do is sleep till the second coming. i don't think Jesus would be that cruel making people wait till the second because he don't even know when that day is. because the Jesus i know is love not torment stay away from the pennecostals no matter what branch they are a penncostal is a penncostal they all believe the samething i'm Baptist now and i haven't felt this close to God over 2 years.
