I don't agree with this. I talk more face to face than say.. on the phone, or computer.
Any communication other than by direct face to face contact requires the use of technology. Writing is one early technology that allowed people to communicate at a distance.
Communication dissonance exists when a person understands more information receptively than he is able to communicate expressively. Individuals with communication dissonance are at risk for being seen as less cognitively skilled than they actually are because they cannot express themselves at a level consistent with their intellectual ability.
It affects more than verbal communication. You cannot not communicate. The way people sit, walk. appear and gesture says something about them. Verbal communication is so small compared to non verbal communication.
It is always good to be communicate in the positive rather than the negative; whether it is in teaching or in every day life. It builds people's self confidence rather than tears it down.
The invention of writing allowed people to communicate more broadly than had previously been done.
It depends... If they have a good life, no. But if they are treated poorly, yes.
