Dingoes are opportunistic eaters and will feed on almost anything, but they will not attack and eat humans.

The dingo prefers to eat small to medium-sized species such as bandicoots and wallabies. In poor times, dingoes will resort to eating livestock such as sheep and cattle (but usually they do not prefer to eat them).

In other areas, dingoes will eat human food, such as unsecured food of campers and picnickers. They will also eat fish (especially in coastal areas such as Fraser Island ) and will hunt fish in streams and lakes much as wolves and bears do in North America.

In other situations, dingoes will eat plants, berries, fruits and insects when other food is less available. The species is highly adaptable and will very rarely go hungry.
