Sadly, yes. People kill them every day just for sport. Some kill them to protect livestock, but its still killing them. They can become extinct if people keep hunting them.
The wolves came up to people (even though they were probly scared to death), looking for food ( but not to eat the people). They hung around people for food then the people knew that they wouldn't do any harm and started to train them.
