The thing is when people self harm it brings them releif adn a sense of reality. But if they harmed someone else it wouldn't bring them the same releif so all in all the answer is NO

If you are doing great harm to others, then by definition you are not doing all the good you can. Doing good does not harm people, it helps people. That's what we mean by doing good. If you are harming people, that is what we call evil, not good.
People who harm animals were likely hurt themselves. When people are abused, they look for someone who is weaker than they are to hurt.
