Shingles can't cause genital herpes.
No, shingles, genital warts, and genital herpes are different diseases. While they are all caused by viruses, they are distinct. Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus. Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus Genital herpes is causes by herpes simplex virus.
Shingles comes from the chicken pox virus which is caused by herpes zooster, it's slightly different then genital herpes. If you have had chicken pox before then you can get shingles later in life.
Genital herpes and shingles are caused by herpes, but shingles is caused by another different type of herpes so that isn't likely to happen. Shingles are caused by the virus that causes chicken pox (herpes zooster). If you have had chicken pox before then you can get shingles later in life.
Shingles is caused by the virus that causes chicken pox (herpes zooster) which is a slightly different type of herpes. If you have had chicken pox before then you can get shingles later in life. Genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex 2 (HSV2)
There is a vaccine for shingles and I belive there is one for chicken pox which are caused by herpes zooster. But there isn't a vaccine or cure for oral herpes or genital herpes.
No, because they are different viruses.
One notable difference is the method of contraction. You can contract genital herpes by sexual contact ("sexual" being short-hand for skin-to-genital contact) with someone who is him/herself infected with genital herpes. Shingles, on the other hand, is a recurrence of chickenpox. It isn't contracted by sexual contact except in the rare instance where you originally got chickenpox by having sex with somebody with chickenpox. You simply can't spread shingles to somebody else if you have shingles. What you WILL spread to them is chickenpox . . . but only if they haven't had it yet. Shingles is also less likely to recur than genital herpes, which typically breaks out between three and five times a year. You can potentially have shingles and then never get it again. For what it's worth, I had "genital" shingles as well, which was misdiagnosed as genital herpes, notwithstanding my protestations that my and my wife's lifestyle choices made genital herpes very unlikely. (I think the doctor just assumed I was lying about having been monogamous.)
Herpes zooster can cause shingles. This type of herpes causes chicken pox. It's slightly different then the herpes that causes cold sores and genital herpes. If you have had chicken pox as a child then you could possibly get shingles later in life.
The type of genital rash for shingles and genital herpes is hard to differentiate. A health care provider may be able to tell the difference based on the distribution of lesions, but usually a culture is required.
All types of herpes cause itching or burning. This is true for oral herpes, genital herpes, chicken pox, and shingles.
There are at least three different types of herpes viruses. The one that causes shingles (and chickenpox) is not the same as the one that causes the sexually transmitted disease genital herpes.
Acyclovir can be used for oral herpes (cold sores), genital herpes, or shingles (herpes zoster). It can also be used for chickenpox.
These aren't really connected. Shingles is caused by the same virus as chickenpox, so if you had chickenpox as a child, you are at an increased risk of shingles.
Shingles comes from the chicken pox virus (herpes zooster) which is slightly different then oral or genital herpes. If you have had chicken pox before then you can get shingles later in life. But there is a vaccine for it, if you have had chicken pox and you're concerned about shingles then you may want to consider getting it.
Herpes zoster does not cause herpes simplex. Genital herpes isn't caused by herpes zooster. Herpes zooster is the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles.
Some common names for the skin diseases of herpes are cold sores, fever blisters, genital herpes, shingles, whitlow, wrestler's herpes, and ophthalmic herpes.
People are not born with genital herpes; they must come in contact with the virus to catch it.
Hardly any people die from genital herpes complications.
Overall, 1 out of 6 people have genital herpes in the US.
No such drug. Valaciclovir is used to treat and prevent herpes simplex and related infections, such as genital herpes, shingles and CMV.
It has nothing to do with colds or flu. Herpes are cold sores, chicken pox, Shingles, and genital herpes. They are all spread thru direct contact.

Never a blister on mouth, genitals or anywhere else for decades! suddenly ... in my 70th year, I get a genital sore!!! WTH????? then my labs come back with genital herpes diagnosis! something needs explaining here.
Herpetic means related to herpes. A herpetic infection could be genital herpes, shingles, cold sores, or other infections caused by viruses in the herpes family.
