Hermit crabs may pinch very hard and it might hurt but some can be very social I have 4 hermit crabs and I named one Mr. Crabs and he loves to come out of his shell and play!
Yeah i have 4 crabs too and i love one of them the most. his name is gummbie. <3 well crabs pinch but some like to climb on you (like my gummbie) and they have sharp little claws but they only mean to play with you unless you are bothering them. but that would be mean so dont bother them! : P

∙ 10y agoYES!! be careful not to let them get a hold on your loose skin-keep hand flexed tight with fingers extended. My daughter had one bite her and we had to hold it under running tap water for at least 5 minutes before he would release his grip. This was after we tried to gently pry him off of her. His grip only tightened during this process. The crab didn't break the skin, but left a nasty red and blue bruise and many tears.
Edit: Do not use tap water on a hermit crab! The chlorine is poisonous to them. Instead set your hand on a flat surface, they will usually let go fairly quickly (5-10 seconds) and walk away.
Hermit crabs usually only pinch if feeling threatened or feel they are in danger of falling. So building a trusting relationship goes a long ways in avoiding painful pinches.

∙ 9y agoOf course not, They're friendly creatures unless they feel threatened, they may pinch. If they do start fighting or pinching each other, remove the other one A.S.A.P as he could kill the other crab. They may be small but they are tough and strong. I hope some of this advice helped, As I have hermit crabs too. I hope this helped you.

∙ 10y agoBite, no-pinch, yes, although it's not real bad. To get the crab off if he gets you just hold under warm water and when it starts to gets hot, he'll let go without hurting it.

Where do you find hermit crabs?
On some beaches and especially in the Caribbean. But PLEASE don't take hermit crabs from the beach or other wild places, they WILL die. Buy them from pet stores instead.
