You're asking if a pet shop is a good place to buy a hermit crab? I can only tell you my experience. I have bought three hermit crabs from PetSmart over the years. None of them have lived very long. But the one I bought on the boardwalk at the Jersey shore has lived for 11 years. I would recommend buying them from someplace as close to the ocean as possible, as I believe they are healthier than at most pet stores. But maybe I just got lucky.Don't buy them through the mail, they won't last long.
