Being severely brittle diabetic and suffering from extreme swings low to high blood sugar and vice versa. I have often found that when I am in the garden and eat fresh radishes that my blood sugar levels go down soon after without doing any insulin. While this is far from scientific, supposedly there are phyotchemicals and other things that help this happen. Ironic that they also contain carbs which can raise someone from a low or hypo, but because they are complex carbs they take longer for the sugars to help with a low and something I would use as a last resort only when something better is not available. If you are someone that suffers from a low you are better eating dextrose or sugar made from grapes ( I use Grape Juice) for a rapid recovery.
Sugar can stunt the growth of radishes or not allow them to grow at all. When sugar is added, the soil water itself will not be able to give the plant what it needs to grow. The roots that grow from the radishes are not adapted to absorb sugar.
