Reindeer do not cross breed with elk or red deer as they are not directly compatible. Despite being similar, too many differences exist for true breeding between them.

Caribou and Eurasian reindeer belong to the same species and so caribou and reindeer are considered to be genetically related.

Is a moose a type of deer?

No! Deers and Reindeers are not the same animal. But they are both mammals. The difference beetween them is not very much, but Reindeers live in Lapland and cold countries and can put up with more icy weather, and Deers usually live in forests in slightly warmer countries. That's the only difference really!
