Through some satellite imagery and radio echo sound, cartographic data and study of previous 'virtual maps' the British Antarctic Survey predicted in 2013 that the continent was complex under the ice, being composed of "mountains, hills and rolling plains, dissected by valleys troughs, and deep gorges."
This work focuses on a small area of West Antarctica, so not all of the continent's geographical assets have been identified or mapped.
You'll find both there. Some scientists ski, and there is some cross-country skiing in Antarctica. Some cross-country skiers in Antarctica are not scientists.
The ice sheets of west Antarctica actually cover a series of islands, rather like Hawaii. So if the ice sheets melted, the islands would be visible in the ocean.
Well if all the ice melted in Antarctica the world would be flooded! And also the sea levels would rise up to approx 60 meters. but we wouldn't wanna let Antarctica melt ! the crust would also be flood because that's the layer we live on you doof!
Antarctica is the continent which is almost completely covered with ice.
The only people in Antarctica are scientists who study the environment there, so for a living they would do scientifical studies.
You can't learn languages in Antarctica. The scientists who live there are working, and would not have time to teach you.
because of its wildlife and because if antartartica melted the sea level would rise.
In my judgment the only continent visited by scientists would be Antarctica, as there are no permanent residents there.
Actually, several countries have payed claim to parts of Antarctica, legally. But Antartica is a completely inhospitable place to live, therefore has no permanent residents. You would only find scientists in Antarctica temporarily.
No it would not also the ice will most likely never melt lol
Scientists work temporarily in Antarctica, in order to collect raw data about the health of planet Earth.
It wouldn't kill us all, but it would create so many problems that many people would die and the remainder would suffer a severe decline in quality of life. Antarctica will not completely melt though in any of our lifetimes, and no one is claiming that it will. Some of it will and is melting, and that will cause enough problems.
