Scorpions do not lay eggs. The young scorpions are born alive and climb onto the mother's back. What are some struggles for scorpions?

One of the greatest struggles any scorpion has is the molt. Like other arthropods, scorpions have their skeleton on the outside of their body. This is called an exoskeleton. In order to grow a scorpion must shed its old exoskeleton. The period between molts is called an instar. A scorpions age is often measured by how many times it has molted, e.g. a seven instar scorpion for example. Scorpions are very vulnerable immediately after they molt. This is because they are very soft for a few days after shedding. They must secrete the compounds that harden into their exoskeleton. Molting is also very exhausting. Scorpions will often fast for a while before and after a molt.
