turtles do not breathe under water,they have to keep going up so that they can breath. But once turtles get all the oxygen they need, they can hold it for a long time under water but i don't know why.But when they need to breath they continue to go up and the cycle continues

Well, yeah.

Thing is, oxygen is what most living things use, even those who live in the ocean.

Fish use oxygen too.

Difference is if a creature get their oxygen from the air or from the water.

Sea turtles have lungs, not gills. They get their oxygen from the air. They hold their breath - which they're very good at - when they dive.
