No. They usually prefer warm oceans and seas around the equator and spanning upto the tropic of cancer on one side and the tropic of capricorn on the other. They dont live in cold waters and so, do not have the need to migrate. However, they have been known to swim up rivers. They can survive in both salt and fresh water and have been spotted in both rivers and oceans.

The Greenland shark (Somniosus microcephalus) live mostly in sub-arctic waters, with temperatures of -0.6ºC to 10°C.

Roald Amundsen, the famous Norwegian explorer, when living with the Inuit people to prepare himself for survival in arctic and antarctic most severe environements, heard reports from Inuit fishermen of large sharks attacking kayaks, in the summer Arctic Ocean.

These attacks are very rare, and the Inuits do not fish, or eat, the local sharks.

The Greenland sharks can grow to 6.4 meters or more, but they are slow swimmers. An Inuit fishing kayak can easily be mistaken by a seal, and dead seals have been found in the arctic with bite shark teeth marks, suggesting that the Greenland shark may be a major predator of seals.
