Generally yes, but there are many different species of snail. If the snails are much smaller than the slider then they shouldn't have any trouble but if it is a larger species it may have trouble or avoid it entirely. If possible find out what kind of snail you are buying before you put them in with your turtle.

Yes but its not usually in their diet, they do mostly eat crabs, mollusks, and squid
