Yes they do, they spend a lot of time in water. Like lakes, ponds, ect.
They are 1 inch long
As babies snapping turtles get along with all kinds of turtles. once the snapping turtle gets big enough, it starts to realize it is stronger and bigger than the other turtles. At that point it gets very aggressive. I have a 6 month old snapping turtle that is very calm and stays away from the other turtles. My friend's snapping turtle though, is another story. His snapper is always trying to bite the other turtles limbs but is to slow is the deep water.
They regulary eat garter snakes and fish in the wild. Once in a creek, a large snapping turtle was fighting a coyote and the coyote was defeated.
Since I live at a home that has a creek, I know what it is like to have baby snapping turtles. I have also taken care of a couple big ones. Snapping turtles eat worms, June Bugs, crickets and small fish. If it is a baby, cut the worms and fish up smaller. They will eat whole crickets and June Bugs though.
how big can a snapping turtle get? The common snapper can reach 50-80 lbs. and can live 40-50 years attaining a carapace size of 18'. That is correct!
snakes big cat fish like channel cats , racoons, birds, a couple of more like people cause people eat turtles
Some turtles can bite humans - I think a big snapping turtle might be able to cut your finger off. However, turtles do not prey on humans for food.
Aquatic turtles need to live in water. How deep depends on the species. Turtles like painted turtles or slider turtles need water to be as deep as possible. Turtles like musk and snapping turtles need shallower water. They have to have land too, a turtle need to be able to completely dry off when ever they want to. Tortoises or box turtles need a shallow, easy to climb in, dish that is big enough for then to fit in so they can sit in it and drink when ever they want.
Most full grown alligator snapping turtles can get as big as 2.5 feet and weigh as much as 200 pounds.
