Usually only alligator snappers do, but I found a normal baby snapper in the water once

∙ 13y agoYes they can. I used to fish them and it is impossible to get the hook out. However they get easily frightened, I know this from experience because I was out canoeing one day and I tipped into a swarm of snapping turtles, and I was scared I rushed back onto the canoe when a nearby friend told me that they ran away and were as scared as me. So if you see a snapping turtle, don't be scared and don't look stupid like I did. In addition snapping turtles can only live in small lakes and rivers.

∙ 14y agoMost snapping turtles don't like to bask often, especially at a young age due to their vulnerability to predators in the wild. As long as the turtle is swimming normally, eating, and coming up for air it should be ok. A good site to find out more about snapping turtles is Austins Turtle Page.

∙ 14y agono but yes cause they can only swallow there food under water they some times like to bask so i add a giant rock and get a heat lamp or lamp so they CAN CAUSE I ALSO HAVE A SNAPPING TURTLE

I would not reccommend swimming with the snapping turtles. You can safely swim in a pond or river that has snapping turtles living in it. Snapping turtles bite if you get too close, though, and their jaws are very strong. A snapping turtle could bite your finger off. So swim away, but don't get too close to the turtles!
