Best Answer

Yes as I find it hard to use the footpedals on an actual piano but I have a keyboard and found it much easier to learn how to play than a piano.

Can you learn to play a digital piano and be able to play an acoustic piano?

It's not ideal, but some digital pianos have weighted keyboards that make them very similar to "real" pianos.

Which digital pianos have features that aid the beginner?

The place to find a good answer for that is to go to your local music store that sells keyboards. However, most keyboards you find at Bestbuy are learning keyboards. They have the keys that light up and some can even tell you what fingers to play. The only thing is its almost impossible to learn anything from those keyboards. I have been playing piano for ten years and I have tried learning a song like that recently and it was basically impossible. In the long run there isn't really a digital piano that will help you learn piano. You're better to go with a piano teacher who will teach you way more things that a keyboard could ever teach like learning to play with more feeling and phrasing of notes etc.

What section does the piano play in the orcastra?

What are weighted keys on a digital piano?

This refers to the attempts, some remarkably successful, to make the keys of a digital piano feel just like the keys on an acoustic piano while playing. With a digital piano, you can have keys that are extremely light, and/or attached to simple springs. The only thing needed to make a sound is for an electrical connection to be made. In an acoustic piano, the key is actually a lever that transfers your energy to what is called the 'action', the mechanical device that propels a felt hammer toward the strings (or wires), causing the sound. The feel of an acoustic piano is distinctive, and a very important part of playing for many who were trained on acoustic pianos. Weighted keys also make it a little easier to go from the digital keyboard environment to playing regular acoustic pianos. Some, including myself, swear by weighted keys on digital pianos, and they are much more satisfying to play. If you make it a habit to sample pianos of every kind as you shop or as they become available, you will sense the difference, if the difference is important to you.

Do pianos use magnets?

An acoustic piano does not. I do not know about digital pianos. An electronic piano does not need actual magnets. The speakers used to produce the sounds do have magnets in them. Additionally, the electronics may include transformers and wire coils which do become magnetic to some extend while they are functioning.

Which digital piano has the best piano touch?

In many people's opinions Yamaha pianos are known for their light touch. Some electric pianos are not touch sensitive and you can adjust the key sensitivity to your liking.

Why does a piano have 88 keys?

Not all pianos have 88 keys, although most modern pianos do. Pianos have roughly 88 keys because of the reach of the the player. Early pianos often had 85 keys. There was pressure to standardise on a number because composers wouldn't want to to write for keyboards if not all pianos could play them. Some modern keyboards have extra keys; usually these are hidden under a flap that can be raised if required - some jazz players like to have the extra bass notes. Having the extra notes also adds resonounce to other (conventional) bass notes.
