Can a tea result in inebriation? No tea sold legally in the US would do such a thing. While consuming a massive volume of tea (7-8+ cups) at once can cause an upset stomach, I know of no such tea that would actually result in impaired motor function.

Some of the more common side effects of laxative teas include diarrhea, stomach pains and vomiting. Prolonged use can also cause constipation, dehydration and even heart problems.

Certain drinks such as alcohol, caffeine, and some herbal teas can cause drowsiness or make you feel tired.
Tea can cause an individual to have some gas and bloating. Teas that have artificial sweeteners are what causes gas.

Most herbal teas are not caffeinated so they do not have a diuretic effect. Some specific examples of non diuretic herbal teas are peppermint and chamomile.
