Squids are very smart and know that humans aren't what they like to eat. Most of the time, a squid will not eat a human. Squids live very, very deep in water. So deep, that humans can't dive that far down. At night, they come closer to the surface. If you are diving near squid (if you are even crazy enough to do that), they can pull you in with their suction cups and drag you down into the water, suffocating you to death.
