The farmers ruined the lush green landscape from plowing. they plowed over and over making it hard for anything to grow. The market for wheat was paying more then corn, so they tried to grow wheat. when wheat went down they couldn't grow anything else cause the soil was now dirt. come fall, and the storms the market for farmers went down and so flour prices went up and so did everything else. just because of the wheat and corn industry. you can also look up the movie PBS played about it.

∙ 12y agoThe dust bowl was an area in east Kansas and other Midwestern states. In these states the water supply was very low curently, and alot of the USA food wasn't being grown. Therefore food output was decreased and that subdivision of the economy went down. Food for the USA was also decreased and that caused more poverty. Then when the Dust bowl really hit it made families have to move because they couldn't stay and have a normal life because they would have to sleep in sand and they would have to eat off dirty plates and drink out of dirty cups because the sand came through everything around the house (Door, Windows, Walls, etc).

∙ 10y agoThe Dust Bowl happened during the years of the Great Depression, and the constant dust storms ruined the crops of many Midwestern and Southern farmers during those years, making it even harder for those farmers to make any money to ease the pain of the Great Depression.

It's heat and lack of precipitation dried up the farmlands of the central US. Farmers could not rescue their crops and the soil was turned to dust, so the land could no longer be farmed. Starving farm families set out to the cities or to different states, in search of work, thus further pressuring the high unemployment caused by the 1929 Stock Market crash and losses to businesses.
