There might have been some civilian hunting rifles with left handed bolts for USMC snipers in Vietnam. USA snipers used modified M14 rifles (XM21's) as sniper rifles. Other than those examples, lefty's had to shoot right handed in boot camp, and sometimes (if the DI/Drill Instructor) was feeling nice, might cheat and let a man qualify left handed with it. But the empty's (brass shell casings) flew into the rifleman's face when he fired left handed. All US Military weapons were (they might be different for the 21st century) designed & built for the common US serviceman-right handed. Same with the old M1 steel helmet, one size fitted all; only the internal leather head straps had to be adjusted to fit his head. Same with the GI haircuts, every man got his headed shaved to the skull in boot camp-everyone was EQUAL! GI's were massed produced...all the same (as much as humanly possible). This created simplicity when managing logistics; which in turn created a superior fighting force. No Army can fight without logistics (Supplies)!
