The contour had MacPherson struts in the front.
How do you replace the front struts on jaguar x-type
All Toyota Camry's have struts in the front. This is also accompanied with strut mounts and bearings that are located between the mount & strut. I highly recommend replacing the mounts & strut bearings with the struts. My experience has shown that the mounts fail before the strut.
I was just quoted $1,300 to replace front struts only (does not include rear struts.) Jetta GLI 2003 with 120,000+ miles.
It doesn't have struts. It has coil-over shocks.
How do you replace the front wheel bearings on a nissan frontier 4x4 1999
It wasn't specified what the model year this is or which "S" series was asked about, but on my 2001 SL1 the ONLY way to replace the front bearings is removing the front wheel bearing assemblies then taking them, and the new bearings, to a machine shop to have the old bearings pressed out and the new bearings pressed in. Then reattach the hub assemblies to the car. The wheels will also need to be realigned after having to unbolt the front struts to remove the bearing assemblies.

how to change front struts on a 2003 cadillac sedan deville
They need to be pressed in. You will have to remove the hub assembly and have a shop press the bearings into the hub.
I was quoted $900+ on the front struts for my '99 pathfinder. On ebay they said they found some for $200 less, but that's still $700+ just for front struts.
Wheel bearings? 4X4 ? 4X2?
no, not at all replace the front when the time comes..
I have a Contour as such. I always did all the maintenance on my cars. The Ford Contour is a total engineering failure. Your problems are just getting started. This car is such a tough one to fix. The engine runs too hot, coil springs are always breaking, electronic bugs, and the transmission will slip around 180 000 km. Most cars I work on, I could replace the front struts in a few minutes. It's been ten hours on the Contour. This is not a Ferrari, it's not worth the effort. Just get yourself a nice, used Toyota. In the mean time, you can drive with your suspension as it is, for several months. if it took you ten hours you need to give up on the do it yourself approach I can do all 4 struts in about 2hours LOL
The front struts on a Mercury Sable are replaced by jacking up the vehicle, removing the wheels, and supporting the vehicle on jack stands. The retaining bolts can then be removed, the struts taken out, and new struts put in place.
Did you ever get anywhere on this thread? I'm looking to replace the front bearings and rotors on my 2000 ZR2.
