no the female hunts and looks after the baby lion cub as well.
Female tigers spend a third of their day sleeping, the rest hunting, looking after cubs and eating. Adult males spend a third of their day sleeping, the rest hunting, eating and guarding territory.
Lions prowl because they are in the wild looking for food. The male lion will sometimes stay with the cubs while the female lioness goes out hunting for food.
Lion cubs start hunting at young ages to grow the skills needed. Without preparation, then other animals would outhunt them, causing them to starve. However, the male lion cubs will eventually stop hunting and simply fight over females, leaving the female lionesses to hunt together.
The number varies but usually there are 20-30 cats in a pride. Usually there is only one male in a pride, more than one is rarely seen. Usually the only time there are more than one males in the pride is when there are male cubs. Both hunt for survival, so both males and females are very good at hunting once they master how to do so. Female Cheetahs hunt not only for themselves but for their cubs as well, so I suppose one could argue the females are better.
