Best Answer

NO, the main rotor does the lifting and the small rear propeller is used to stop it spinning around and help with steering it.

What is the blades on a helicoptor called?

The blades on a helicopter are called rotor blades. They are attached to the rotor mast and rotate to provide lift and control for the helicopter.

How does a helicopter get its lifting force?

The rotor blades relieve the air pressure from the helicopter forcing it to lift.

How are the size of helicopter blades important?

The size and shape define what the rotor will lift.

How does the lift thrust drag and gravity affect a helicopter?

Lift, thrust, drag, and gravity affects all flying objects and wildlife. The blades of the helicopter provide lift, drag and thrust.

How do helecopter blades spin so fast?

Helicopter blades operate from a transmission or gearbox immediately under the blades. They have to spin fast to give the helicopter lift. Once they are in the air the blades twist slightly to give forward motion.

When a helicopter is a stationary the blades on both sides of the rotor give the same lift?

yes

How helicopter work?

My understanding of how helicopters work is that they (suck) the air from above the blades and (blow) it down wards to create lift. the rear blades counter the spin of the top blades of it wasn't for them the helicopter would just spin round in circles (fun but not recommended) :-)

What is the top part of a helicopter called?

The top part of a helicopter would most commonly be considered the rotor blades (which spin to provide lift).

What does rotor blades mean?

Rotor blades are on helicopters. They are the long narrow parts above the fuselage (cabin) .When these rotate they impart 'lift' to the helicopter.

How does a Helicopter take off?

A helicopter is an aircraft that is lifted and propelled by one or more horizontal rotors, each rotor consisting of two or more rotor blades. Helicopters are classified as rotorcraft or rotary-wing aircraft to distinguish them from fixed-wing aircraft because the helicopter achieves lift with the rotor blades which rotate around a mast. A helicopter takes off vertically by using a set of blades shaped like aerofoils to generate lift by rotating the blades at high speed and as such does not require runways

Difference between helicopter and fixed wing aircraft?

Fixed wing- air is moved past the wings to create lift. Helicopter- the wings (rotor blades) are moved through the air to create lift.

What is a helicopter blade called?

the blade is called rotor bladesThe rotor blades on top are called Main Rotor Blades, because they are the main source of lift for the helicopter. The smaller rotor blades on the tail are called Tail Rotor Blades.
