National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (National VOAD) is a coalition of nonprofit organizations that work together to enhance disaster response and recovery efforts in the United States. Established in 1970, it serves as a platform for these organizations to collaborate, share resources, and coordinate their activities during disasters. National VOAD promotes best practices, fosters partnerships, and advocates for policies that improve disaster preparedness and resilience. Members include well-known organizations such as the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and various faith-based groups.
There is a website titled "Organizations Non-Profit Directory of Florida" that lists various organizations in the Florida area. A few of these are Cross Road Food Bank (Fort Lauderdale), Second Harvest North Florida (Jacksonville), and the Alzheimer's Family Center (Margate). There are also national organizations available such as Red Cross and Amnesty International.
