You have an 1988 Grand Marquis and you are not getting power to the amp but you are getting power out of the stereo to the amp Is there an in-line fuse or something of that nature?
Make sure that your remote wire from the stereo to the amp doesn't have any breaks in it. Also, make sure your ground is good, and that your battery connectors are tight.
