No, a transparent object would totally transmit all light through it. However there are no transparent objects, and objects which we think of as being transparent are in fact translucent. All objects absorb at least some light. Glass for instance will transmit about 90% or so of visible light and reflect the rest.

A transparent object will invariably have edges. Those edges are typically polished to facilitate transmission. A polished surface will always reflect some light.

Why do transparent objects not reflect light?

They do, to a small extent, but they transmit most of it.

How do transparent translucent and opaque objects affect light?

transparent and translucent objects are the objects that let the light pass through them eg glass, but sometimes translucent objects are colorful so they change the color of the light as it passes through them opaque objects can either absorb the light, like dark material, or reflect, like a mirror.

Which objects light can pass through?

an objects light can pass through is transparent

Why transparent object look transparent?

Because that object does not reflect light. So glass is transparent because light passes through it. Skin is transparent under X-rays because the skin cannot reflect the high energy Xrays.

Do only shiny objects reflect light?

No, everything that we can see (besides objects the produce light eg sun, light bulb) reflect light. If it didn't reflect light we would not be able to see it.

Could dark objects reflect light?

Yes. There is hardly anything that reflects NO light; dark objects simply reflect less light than light objects.

In which three categories can most materials be classified based on what happens to light that's strikes the material?

Transparent materials allow light to pass through, Opaque objects completely stop the passage of light, Reflecting surfaces will reflect the light, and translucent objects allow the light to pass, but in a diffuse manner.

Does a prism refract light or reflect light?

A prism refracts light because it's a transparent element with flat, polished surfaces.

What word describes an object that allows some light through?

Transparent objects allow the complete passage of light. No light goes through an opaque object. Between these two extremes, objects are said to be translucent.

Does aluminum foil reflect more light than transparent glass?

no

What does to a transparent object do to light?

If it is perfectly transparent, nothing. It can refract and reflect the light. For example, a lens is made of glass which is transparent. The important properties are the refractive index of the material and the angle that light hits the object at.

Why cant light pass through dark objects?

Dark objects do not reflect light. Light is absorbed by them.
