There are vampire bats in South America, and if one bites you, you might get infected. Seriously read about real vampire bats. Learn the difference between fiction and reality. If you want to live long and healthy.

Vampires -as is Dracula- are mythological creatures. You cannot compare their feeding habits with vampire bats! Vampire bats, as you mentionned, rarely feed on humans. But they can. However, cattle and other farm animals offer a much more accessible source of food to vampire bats.
If you just have the disease and you aren't a vampire yet, you can use any Cure Disease Potion or any shrine to cure yourself before you are a vampire. If you already are a vampire you will need to make sure you are not level 4 vampire so people don't attack/run from you. To do this you need to feed. Once you are a lower level vampire talk to a innkeeper or bartender about rumors. They will point out a man from Morthal who can help you.
The majority of bats eat insects, and thus help to protect plants by preventing insect populations from getting out of control. There are a number of other bats that eat fruit and pollinate flowers, and these help fruit trees reproduce. There are some exceptional bats that drink blood (three species of vampire bat) or catch fish (such as the greater bulldog bat).
There is probably nothing people can do to help bats survive winter. Most bats feed on insects caught while flying. Most bats are adapted to deal with the usual cold of winter. Many hibernate, and others fly to warmer climates for the winter.
