Yes. They help ALL animals if they can.
Yes - veterinarians will treat snakes and other reptiles in the course of their work. There are even veterinary practices that deal exclusively in reptiles.
Some vets will work with horses. Otherwise, there are specialty equine-vets who will work almost only with horses.
You need to first study general biology, and then later focus your study towards reptiles and snakes. A degree in zoology will also work.
will vets work with the same people every day or will it be diffrent people
Donald Schultz is a Herpetologist. Herpetologists specialize in the study of amphibians and reptiles.
vets spend their time treating animals
Going back to the dinosaur ages, (yes they were reptiles) not very much. They are still cold blooded scaly reptiles that lay eggs. In fact the 2 main types of reptiles (snakes and lizards) have really only got 1 main difference, one has legs and one hasn't. I'll let you work out which ones which. In fact some larger snakes have got 4 lumps on their belly where legs were once in their ancestral history, or where legs will be a few million years from now.
I used to work on a hourse farm and specific vets do make house calls. It depends on where you live. It also depends on what feild of work your in. Some vets vounteer to do that feild of work.- Eli Dalton
A herpetologist works closely with amphibians and reptiles. This can be a research related job or a caretaker/zoo-keeper etc. There are in fact many job profiles. You can work closely with reptiles like crocodiles and snakes in a zoo. Eg: Steve Austin. You can even work as a snake rescuer. People in research usually study about their habitats, diseases etc.
Some veterinarians do provide medical care for snakes; however, these veterinarians are relatively few and far between. To find a veterinarian who has knowledge and experience working with snakes, you will need to call around to vet clinics in your area and ask if any veterinarian at that clinic will see snakes. You may also want to ask if a veterinarian knows of anyone in the area that treats snakes.
There are some reptile farms in different States (but be careful who is teaching you how to handle snakes and know whether they are a real pro at what they are doing.) You can also apply at the zoos or, some pet stores handle reptiles. Good luck
you get to work with animals that you love :)
