Dogs and wolves are both part of the same family
wolves are part of the canine family. their relatives are wild dogs, coyotes, and domestic dogs
Dogs are more closely related to wolves, whom are pack animals (in fact, some zoologists refer to dogs as domestic wolves). In a pack, the pack members have special emotional bonds and will miss each other when separated as well as mourn the death of a fellow pack member. As such, the domestication of dogs have led to them accepting humans as part of their pack and even treating humans as the pack leaders via forms of submission (ie exposing underbelly) among other things. Technically you are in a pack with your dog and you are most likely the leader. Studies have also been made with human and wolf pup interaction yielding interesting results comparable to domestic dogs. However, wolves are built to kill so it is not wise to raise a wolf pup past its sexual maturity.
domesticated dogs. wolves, coyotes, African hunting dogs, dholes, and maned wolves

Yes, the wolves and dogs are in the same family. They are in the Canine Family.
Wolves do not leave their young. The young (which are the cubs of the alpha male and female) become part of the pack when adult.
