For most women it would be a shock at first and 3/4 of those women may not understand. Men cross-dressers are not usually gay. This is a practice known as cross-dressing or transvestism. It is harmless and has nothing to do with being gay. In our culture, however, it seems to cause lots of guilt and shame for the dresser. Which is odd because women get away with wearing mens clothing quite easily.
No. There is no reason for men to be wearing stocking, unless they are dressing as a woman, and I don't believe most women would find that attractive.
